Well I have to say that my volunteering here in Holon cannot compare to my last volunteer job. Last section I was traveling daily to the beach to help injured sea turtles and did a lot more physical work; and I enjoyed that. Here in Holon I work at the Hess School, which is an elementry school with grades first through sixth. My first days at the school were a little slow and I was assigned to a lot of the sport classes. Since art is more my thing, I talked to the head teacher and changed my schedual and now work daily with the art teacher. Before starting this volunteering, I thought I would be helping more kids one on one learning English -with my two weeks of working I have only worked with a student once. My schedual is still up in the air and there are still changes to be made, I want to be more active in classes and not just sit on the side and do teacher work like cut papers or hang up papers. Last week I did go to an agricultural farm with about 40 third graders, and interacted much more with the kids, to the point where they were fighting over who would sit next me. And it was a moment you must be prepared for to go on a bus for 10 minutes with over 40 third graders screaming and singing. I enjoy seeing the kids everyday and am excited to help them in class next week.
