Title

Hello. I guess I am the first talmeedah to write for this thing. It's also my first time blogging.
I work at the Pitchon Lev Distribution Center in Rishon Le'tzion. I only went to work two days this week because my mom came to visit me and I took my two family days. I went Wednesday and Thursday of this week and I would say that Thursday had to be my favorite day; that is the day that all the items get distributed to the needy. Wednesday we blew up balloons for Purim and made Purim signs in a little office upstairs. When we work downstairs that means we work in an underground parking lot under an outdoor shopping center. On Thursday we put together packages filled with different kinds of breads and bagels. Although I would have liked to have a more hands-on experience, it was still fulfilling to see the people getting their food for the week knowing that we put those packages together. It really gave me a good feeling after I left work that day.
There was a moment when I felt uncomfortable. A man came up to us asking to sneak him a loaf of bread or two. I wanted to give it to him, but I knew I wasn't supposed to. I stared at him blankly not knowing how to say what I wanted to say in Hebrew. Then the man in charge of the bread station told him to go away and that everybody gets a certain amount of bread. This is where I realized how poor these people really were. They don't seem that way when you first take a glance at them, but then it shows through their actions.
I am looking forward to the weeks to come to truly understand and make a difference in these people's lives.
