A Job To Do

Today I went to work alone. Usually I work with two other girls, but Alyssa called me this morning to tell me that she was sick. I instantly knew that because Alyssa wasn't coming to work, Amanda wouldn't be coming either. I called Amanda twice and got no answer, so headed to the bus stop alone.
I ended up having a great day at work. Because I was the only volunteer, there was a lot of work for me to do. Instead of splitting all the tasks by three, I got the responsibility of doing it all. This kept me busy and made time go by faster. Today I finally mastered one of the tasks. I had to prepare the same art project four times today, so I got the hang of how it goes, what we need, and how to clean up. I think the staff member I was working with was impressed with my skills, but she didnt say anything to me.
After a day of work alone, with no one to joke around with, I felt pretty accomplished. I am proud of myself for putting myself in a lonely position and making the most of it.
